Our activities are guided by the principle of respect for the right of the missing person to self-determination, personal safety (taking into account their often complicated situation) and based on an ethical approach to the other person. The support we provide is free of charge and is primarily aimed at protecting the missing person. In selected cases, in cooperation with the families, HFHR lawyers will conduct strategic litigation aimed at bringing about a favorable court settlement and recognition of violations or omissions by the Polish authorities in carrying out their obligations under, among others, the European Convention on Human Rights.
Families of missing persons or others who want to report a missing person with whom contact has been lost in the Polish-Belarusian border region can reach us by:

As part of the project, the Foundation offers legal support in cases where the freedom of expression of journalists - of both professional and civic media - is under threat.
The project aims at involvement in court proceedings in selected cases (e.g. by providing court representation, filing a friend-of-the-court opinion or participating in proceedings as a social organisation). A second priority will be to address national authorities and international institutions in cases of restrictions on media freedom.
Support is offered both in the form of ongoing assistance in cases of threats to media freedom and through participation in precedent-setting proceedings where landmark judgements are possible.
Feel free to contact us at: [email protected].
The project will run until July 2022.
The Global Media Defence Fund, which funds the project, aims to support non-profit organisations around the world that work to strengthen the protection of media freedom.
