Inside Police Custody. Procedural rights at police stations

This report is a result of the “Inside Police Custody” project funded by the European Commission, coordinated by the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, in which 9 partner organizations participated. The research has covered the analysis of implementation of the EU directives regulating: the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings, the right to information in criminal proceedings, and the right of access to a lawyer.

The primary aim of the project was to assess the practice of securing the rights of suspects on the stage of preparatory proceedings. The results of the research will subsequently be used in order to strengthen the enforcement of these rights in practice.
